Wow, we are now in 2019! Hard to believe a year went by…..just like that! I pray you have an amazing new year and you are blessed beyond measure in the days, weeks, and months to come!
Before I got the inspiration for this post, I was praying for what this new blogging business might look like this year for me. Nothing like a new year to feel like you’ve got a fresh new start. I don’t really set resolutions because they’ve never really stuck for me probably because I didn’t have any accountability with them. Yet I know my one downfall, I felt that held me back last year when I first started this blog, was procrastination.
Procrastination:
[proh-kras-tuh-ney-shuh n] -
the act or habit of procrastinating, or putting off or delaying, especially something requiring immediate attention
Procrastination: it’s another “p” word that gets us into trouble when we don’t abide to it’s definition. The other “p” word I am referring to, and one you probably deal with too, is patience!
Putting off or delaying is a big no-no in the blogging world. When you delay getting a post out onto social media or finishing a blog it can affect your readership or followers. That immediate attention you don’t react too can cause you to lose interaction with your followers. So you can see why, I needed to pray about this, I have NO CONTROL but God does and I rely on Him!
So when I was lead to this verse in Proverbs 16:3 in my devotions, I knew this was the one I needed. To “commit your activities to the Lord and your plans will be established” or “achieved” in another version. What better way to start something new than to know He is leading and guiding as you are following His direction and instruction!
Finding this exact artwork on Illustrated Faith’s “Print, Pray, & Shop” was exactly what I needed to complete my mission! It displays the art tools: brushes, pens, markers, pencils; tools I exactly use to create my bible art journaling pages but it displays the Bible and a mug with words: Jesus, Coffee, Bible Journaling – I LOVE THAT!
That is my goal for 2019:
- to give Jesus the glory daily
- to wake up with coffee and start my devotions
- to be inspired in my Bible Journaling and create beautiful things with very little procrastination!!
Thanks for reading and joining me in this adventure! I’d love any feedback or comments from you!
Blessings! Christa
Great post and a wonderful way to start each day!
Thank you Junell, it is a great start indeed!
This is so true with procrastination and blogging. It really starts to pile up!
Yes Tricia, I learned that very earlier on, my procrastination starting turning into frustration quickly, not good!
My middle name is procrastination… 🙂
Rachel, yes! Me as well! Let’s all encourage each other and hopeful break the cycle!!
Procrastination is a tough one to break. I think we could all use some help with patience too!
I agree Nicki! I think me letting everyone know my woes on procrastination, they’ll hold me more accountable! Here’s hoping!
Procrastination is something I’m currently working on as well. Too often I have an idea and then say, I’ll do it later. And then it doesn’t get done. I’m trying to be better about doing things in the moment.
Yes Janine! I totally agree, making it a priority is something I am working on too!
These are great goals to start off the year. Have a great 2019!
Thank you Stacey, you as well!
Same thing happened to me. I started my blog, put it aside for a few months and procrastinated on really getting it going and then picked it back up several months later. I am regretting having wasted that precious time, but NEW YEAR!
That’s so true Cara! Yes to no regrets in 2019!!
Love you goals! Be blessed!
Thank you Lauri! Blessings to you as well!
Love your post. Very inspiring
Thank you Janice, I am encouraged by you and hope you have a great 2019!
Excellent goals! I definitely struggle with procrastination too!
Yes Meagan! Let’s make 2019 a great year, procrastination-free!!
Across the nation is such a killer! I find the inspiration gets me through. However you can best find it. Great post!
Hi Laura, thanks for your encouragement! Have an awesome 2019!
What wonderful goals and great ways to start the day. Those are the goals that last a lifetime.
You as well Karie! Have a great day and an even better 2019!
Stating your day right is the best way to make things happen!! Great post!
You’re right Pauline, thanks for the encouragement!
Wow, great post. Your faith is beautiful. I am a huge procrastinator, but never thought to turn to prayer with it. I will do it this year. Thanks!
Hi Mary, prayer can definitely change things! Thank you for your kinds words! Have a great 2019!
Love your goals! I needed the reminder to get with God first in the day.
Yes Amber! Priorities and consistency are definitely key!
I don’t have a problem with procrastination – I have trouble with taking on too much and that really hinders my productivity. I also struggle with taking control and not waiting on God 🙁 We fast and pray about our direction, hoping we’re on the path that will glorify God daily! So, with this, the verse you quoted, Proverbs 16:3 really hit home. I want to commit my activities to Him! Thank you for the post. Be blessed!!
Hi Susan, I do take on a lot as well! Praying for me is a big part of helping with the priorities, I do not want to get ahead of God. I’m glad you enjoyed the post and blessings to you!
The first step is writing out goals. This helps to focus and conquer. Good luck as you are on your way to success.
Thank you Georgette. I agree writing the goals out and seeing them is definitely a big part. Just like my vision board, it should be seen daily!
Patience and procrastination…two words that get in my way too! I am also working really hard on following through with goals, not resolutions this year to get my blog off and running. Thanks for sharing!!
Yes Dana, 2 tough nuts to crack! I’m using my planner this year to help me with these tasks, I can see daily what needs to be done and start crossing off items off my list! Here’s hoping you get through your projects too!
Good luck! I think the flexibility of blogging makes it challenging to create structure, I’ve got about 10 unfinished drafts! Good luck overcoming procrastination this year!
That is so true Katie! I didn’t start my Blog until the latter part of last year, right before that, I stopped using my planner. For me, my planner was helping me to stay on top of projects but with cells & tablets being more readily to use, I slowly stopped using it. This year, I’m back into my planner use and hope this will “structure” me a bit. I do hope you get all your projects done and have a great 2019! Thanks for responding!
I completely relate to this post. Blogging is full of a lot of small tasks and I’m trying my best to get stuff done before vacation so I can enjoy myself and not stress.
Yes Monica! Nothing like a little “pressure” to spur us into getting our tasks completed. Sometimes I feel like I’m a Fireman putting out the hottest fires first! Have fun on your Vacay!!
Great post. I also have difficulty overcoming procrastination. Working on it. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Kathy! It is a goal we all share. Hope your 2019 is a great one!
Ha! So interesting isn’t it, how different we can be and still the same. I am not religious at all, but I am what I suppose you would call a “deeply spiritual pagan.” And my goals are so similar to your! Wake up each morning and meditate before anything else. Journal daily on my own divine inspiration. Focus on love and peace in everything I do.
Blessed blessed Be Christa!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts Shanna! Yes, that’s the beauty of us all created different yet so similar and sharing in our basic goals!
Great way to start the day and a huge reminder to me of where I should be placing my focus. Here’s praying your 2019 is blessed!
Yes it is T.M.! Hope your 2019 is blessed as well!
