Living life as a crafter!

ArtisticWord slowly began as I discovered the beauty and artistic expressions that the bible evoked as I dug deeper into the Word! It opened my world to Bible Art Journaling.

I’ve always been a creative thinker and a creative do-er.  From a young age, I was always doing something crafty getting into all of my Mom’s craft supplies.  Later on, now as an adult, I really enjoy scrapbooking, painting & drawing, DIY projects, photography (especially of the ocean) and more recently, Bible Art Journaling.  So when I first saw a beautiful drawing in a bible while I was perusing Pinterest a few years ago, it caught my eye instantly. The intense colors, the freedom of the fonts, and the fluidity of the drawing, I knew then it was something I could get into! I’ve always loved color, fonts, and the freedom of art, so when it is combined together with scripture, it brought to me so much clarity of what the Holy Spirit has been doing all along in my heart!

Captivating your heart!

When God captivates your heart and mind with His Word, it illuminates understanding and clarity that only the Holy Spirit can reveal. In Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”, God helped David know that the Word would help and guide him in his life; it was a lamp to give him light, and a light to illuminate his path. While we study God’s Word, the Holy Spirit can cause our hearts to become inspired and expressive, even to the point of wanting to get creative and artistic with our interpretation. That’s when we get paint, color pencil, and some washi tape in hand and create a lasting memory of our time with God within our bibles. Think of it as a form of history of yourself and your journey with God that will be a legacy you can share with your family and children long after you are walking with the Lord in Heaven!

Techniques, tips, and hacks!

Follow me as I explore the world of Bible Art Journaling and the many nuances you can apply in it!  I’ll explain techniques, tips, and hacks like using napkins to create a “drawing” on your page, and how to use simple products you already have around the home (like stickers), display creative ways to make a beautiful page (like a Dymo Label-maker), and show you how to “draw, paint, & color” without even being the least bit “artistic-y” as some of my “non-artistic” friends like to claim as their title! I will also tie-in ideas using scrapbooking tools (like a die cutter machine) to create easier & faster pages to put together.

Note: I do realize drawing, coloring, and painting in a Bible is not for everyone, that’s OK, journaling scripture can be done anywhere else: in journaling or art books, note pads, and even in coloring books!  I have 2 main bibles I use regularly – my study bible that only has “highlighter” markings in it and my art bible that is my journaling bible!
